Classics loaded with politics – condensed in the body of one Ukrainian dancer
Since 1895, Swan Lake is a monument to th ballet classics, heavily burdened with political legacy. Considering Russia’s invasion in Ukraine, we ask the question of how to talk about Russian classical ballet today?
As a sign of protest, Dukhovnaya has abandoned the choreography of Swan Lake, commissioned by Moscow’s Museum of Contemporary Art, in favor of an original, critical version of the classic in which she has concentrated the entire corps de ballet in one performer: herself.
AFTER TALK with the artists will take place after the performance ODBICIA (Eng. Reflexions). Approx. 19:15. With the participation of the artists of EVERY MINUTE MOTHERLAND by Maciej Kuźmiński, SWAN LAKE SOLO by Olga Dukhovnaya and ODBICIA by Anna Steller.
