Through dance, the symbolism of the body and the stereotypes associated with bodies, Anne Nguyen invites the onlooker to question the concept of cultural appropriation. ?Épicentre. A film that ?queries the influence that large architectural complexes have over human and social behaviour?. And celebrates the 60th anniversary of résidence Le Parc by the architect Fernand Pouillon. In order to highlight the monumental and timeless aspects of his developments, I decided to have the dancers wear Native American headdresses. Yes, like the ones you often see in westerns. Well, actually, my frame of reference is Michael Jackson’s Black or White. (?)? Anne Nguyen

Created between 1957 and 1962, residence Le Parc is the first housing project built in the district of Meudon-la-For?t. It reflects the original designs of one of the 20th century’s most outstanding architects, Fernand Pouillon. Spread over 40 hectars, it is home to commercial properties and to 2,635 social housing units. It is characterized by the use of cut stone for the buildings and by open perspectives (Source: City of Meudon). In 2009, residence Le Parc was awarded the “XXth Century Heritage” label by the French Ministry of Culture. In the Fall of 2021, the city of Meudon organized an event to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Le Parc district and the delivery of the new eco-district. The program of the event featured shows, discussions with Cité de l’architecture de Paris, a photography exhibition and screenings of Épicentre. The par Terre Dance Company is associated to Centre d?Art et de Culture de Meudon (92) for 2020/2021, 2021/2022 and 2022/2023. It is in this context that Épicentre was born, a video project whose intention is to combine the enhancement of the Meudon?s architectural heritage with Anne Nguyen?s choreographical work.
