The Ciało/Umysł Foundation is an organization dedicated to the broadly understood art of contemporary dance. Through its activities, the Foundation strives to create a professional place in Warsaw for the presentation, production, education and promotion of dance.
It was established in 2007 for its development and promotion. Its mission is to create professional conditions for the manifestation, development and promotion of dance, creating a place for dialogue between the artist and the viewer. Being aware of how broad and defying definition the concept of contemporary dance is, C/U inspires and promotes artistic activities that use in the creative process means specific to various fields of art – from new choreography and dance theater, through performance and video art, to interactive arts.
Through its activities, the Foundation strives to create a professional place in Warsaw for the presentation, production, education and promotion of dance. A space that brings together and integrates Polish and international creators, as well as recipients of this field of art. C/U’s activities include the organization of an international festival, regular presentation of Polish and foreign artists, educational and social projects and scientific conferences. One of the program priorities is promoting national and international cooperation, as well as working for and with the local community, activating dance and performance enthusiasts. The foundation supports brave and searching artists for whom body and mind are the starting point for creative activities on stage. The Foundation belongs to two international networks: Open Latitudes and APAP, and is a member of the Dance Commission at the Culture Office of the capital city. Warsaw.
