Iza Szostak

(born 1984) – a dancer and choreographer. A graduate of the Ballet School in Warsaw and Codarts/Rotterdam Dance Academy in Holland. In 2007, she did an internship in Jan Fabre’s ensemble Troubleyn. She has collaborated with numerous Dutch and German choreographers. She is interested in the perspective of new materialism which views matter as active and causative. Szostak creates choreography based on systems of communications between a body and an object. She transforms images coming from visual arts, film, anthropological research, and her own biography. Szostak co-creates the Warsaw-based collective Centrum w Ruchu. She regularly presents her works at various Ciało/Umysł Foundation’s events. Her latest production titled “lejournalsecret” was developed in 2019.
