Alessandro Sciarroni (IT)

Alessandro Sciarroni (1976) – dancer, choreographer, and primarily a visual artist who approaches the body and dance from this perspective. His works explore obsessions and fears, examining the fragility of the act of performance. By pushing the performers to the boundaries of their physical endurance, he investigates another dimension of time and the empathetic bond between the audience and the performers. He showcases his works at renowned festivals (Kunstenfestivaldesarts in Brussels, Impulstanz Festival in Vienna, Venice Biennale), in museums, art galleries, and unconventional spaces (Centre Pompidou in Paris or MAXXI Museum in Rome). He has received numerous dance and theatre awards, including New Theatre Realities (PERT), Hystrio, and Coreografo Elettronico. In 2019, he was honored with the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement in Dance at the Venice Biennale. He is a frequent guest at C/U, having showcased Your Girl (2010), Joseph (2012), Untitled (2014), Aurora (2017), Chroma (2019), Joseph Kids (2019).
