Mission

The Body/Mind Foundation is an organisation dedicated to the broadly understood art of contemporary dance. Through its activities, the Foundation aims to create in Warsaw a professional place for the presentation, production, education and promotion of dance.
It was established in 2007 out of concern for its development and promotion. Its mission is to create professional conditions for the manifestation, development and promotion of dance, creating a place for dialogue between the artist and the audience. Being aware of how broad and elusive the concept of contemporary dance is, C/U inspires and promotes artistic activities which use in the creative process the means inherent in various fields of art – from new choreography and dance theatre, through performance and video art, to interactive arts.
Through its activities, the Foundation aims to create a professional space in Warsaw for the presentation, production, education and promotion of dance. It is a space which brings together and integrates Polish and international creators and consumers of this art form. C/U’s activities include the organisation of an international festival, regular presentation of Polish and international artists, educational and social projects and scientific conferences. One of the programme priorities is to promote national and international cooperation, as well as work for and with the local communities, activating amateurs of dance and performance. The Foundation fosters courageous and searching artists, for whom the body and mind are the starting point for creative activities on stage. The Foundation is a member of two international networks: Open Latitudes and APAP, and is a member of the Dance Commission at the Culture Office of the City of Warsaw.
