O Performing Europe

PERFORMING EUROPE 2020 is a four-year comprehensive project, supporting productions, international cooperation of artists and presentations of their works, developed by the C/U Foundation together with 11 European partners of the apap network (advancing performing arts project). It started in 2016. Its aim is to increase access to dance and performing arts with a special focus on new audiences. By combining artistic production, audience development and optimized communication, Performing Europe 2020 achieves maximum synergy. Theater (as a form) becomes a major meeting and exchange place, thanks to the introduction of new models of presentation and art-focused projects.

Almost 40 artists (including four from Poland) participate in the Performing Europe project. They represent different aesthetics, use different practices, work in different contexts and are in different moments of their artistic career. What they have in common is an interest in social and political reality, a desire to translate changes taking place in our societies into the artistic language, a need to reflect abstract themes, a desire to present international contexts.

The apap network consists of: Tanzfabrik Berlin, BIT Teatergarasjen, Maison de la Culture d’Amiens, Centrale Fies, Reykjavik Dance Festival/LÓKAL, Teatro Nacional D.Maria II, SZENE Salzburg, Student Centre Zagreb, Nanterre-Amandiers, Kunstencentrum BUDA, Ciało/Umysł Foundation and associated partner BIPOD-Beirut International Platform of Dance.

In 2020 Performing Europe is held for the last time.
